We look forward to hosting and working with student pharmacists from Keio University Faculty of Pharmacy. Since beginning our exchange nearly twenty years ago, over thirty Keio students have traveled to Iowa to learn about the US health system, pharmacy, and life in the middle of America.
We have developed a unique experience allowing the students to get the feel of an American university while at the same time learning in an environment that is supportive of international visitors' language and educational needs.
Students spend much of their experience working side-by-side final-year Iowa student pharmacists completing clinical rotation experiences in the Iowa City area. A mix of inpatient and ambulatory care settings are included. Prior to attending clinical rotations, students meet with college faculty to receive preparation for the experience and the clinical approaches they will observe.
Currently, students from Keio visit in the fall which aligns with our normal fall semester, so Iowa students are on campus and a full calendar of events, activities, and major college sports are available. Students stay in a home-based Bed & Breakfast near campus.
