〇 Heighten the autonomous awareness of each individual toward preventing infections
The safety and security of campus life, including extracurricular activities, is ultimately based on the strength of awareness of each individual who gathers on campus regarding the prevention of infections. Although the university will put in place specific measures to prevent infections such as conducting vaccinations and distributing PCR test kits, in order for these measures to bear fruit, it is vital for its members to act cautiously to prevent infections and take the initiative in monitoring their health on a daily basis. Reciprocal trust where consideration for one’s own safety overlaps with considerations for the safety of others is the key to opening up the campuses in a safe and secure fashion.
〇 Promoting vaccinations*
Keio University will take full advantage of the government’s program for workplace vaccinations for COVID-19 and conduct intensive group vaccinations centered on students, faculty, and staff members over the period from June 21 to the end of August based on the consent of each individual, with the aim of attaining early group immunity.
〇 Recommendation and continuation of PCR testing
Alongside vaccinations and even after their completion, Keio University will continue to recommend that students, faculty, and staff members utilize PCR tests and urge that they remain vigilant regarding the prevention of infections. In particular, we want our students who participate in extracurricular activities such as those of student clubs and the Athletic Association to aim for the safe and lively implementation of their activities through the voluntary use of PCR tests. In addition, the university will create an environment that can be appropriately used by anyone who is not vaccinated due to personal circumstances and students planning to return home for the vacation.
*The university will take care to ensure that people who cannot be vaccinated or undergo PCR testing for various reasons, including their physical circumstances, will not be disadvantaged through discrimination, exclusion, or loss of opportunities as a result of this.
