On September 10, President Kato Toshihiko and Vice President for Global Engagement Yashiki Albertus Jiro Rei of Hitotsubashi University visited President Kohei Itoh. From Keio University, Vice-President Aki Kitazawa also participated in the exchange of views.

The exchange between the two universities has continued to this day, beginning with the fact that Yukichi Fukuzawa, the founder of Keio University, wrote the prospectus for the establishment of the "Commercial Law School" (Shoho Koshujo), the origin of Hitotsubashi University. On June 6, President Kohei Itoh gave a keynote speech at the symposium hosted by Hitotsubashi University titled "That One Year Will Change the Future: Integrated Education Programs Linking Undergraduate and Graduate Schools in Five Years."
