On Tuesday, August 25, a seven-member delegation from the University of Helsinki—comprising researchers, research support administrators, and specialized Horizon Europe staff—visited the Mita Campus North Annex for the "University of Helsinki and Keio University Horizon Europe Meeting."
The first part of the meeting featured a plenary session, which opened with welcoming remarks from President Kohei Itoh. Representatives from the University of Helsinki then introduced their institution and outlined their initiatives regarding Horizon Europe. Following this, Toshiharu Saiki, Vice President for Research, presented an overview of Keio University and its key research activities.
In the second part, individual discussions were held between researchers and research support staff from both universities, focusing on fields of interest specified by the University of Helsinki, including AI, neuroscience, and digital health. Participants introduced their respective research activities and exchanged views on potential future collaborations and next steps.
This meeting provided a valuable opportunity for direct dialogue between researchers from both institutions, serving as a meaningful first step toward future research collaboration. Moving forward, both universities will continue to build relationships with a view to utilizing international research frameworks such as Horizon Europe.
