The SFC Open Research Forum (ORF) 2019 was held over the two days of Friday, November 22 and Saturday, November 23 at Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi.
The purpose of this event, which is held annually in November, is to give back to the community through the sharing of the achievements (seeds) of the advanced research activities conducted at Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC), and to further develop industry-government-academia collaboration.
Displays, pitches, and talk sessions were held under the theme of "Beyond SDGs" in 2019.
At this year’s event, the 24th ORF, the "pitches" that were introduced last year as a platform for researchers to give engaging accounts of their own research on stage, were again held in addition to the displays and talk sessions.
In the exhibition booth area, 72 groups introduced around 152 projects, prompting extensive interactions and exchanges of knowledge.
At the pitches area, 30 groups introduced the charms of their research in various ways from a stage that brimmed with individuality. This included live presentations, which generated great excitement among those present.
Additionally, at the talk session venues, discussants from various milieus, including the business community and public administration, were invited, and about 28 sessions were held. Among these were sponsor sessions given by corporate patrons and sessions by laboratory members. Heated debates unfolded and there was much excitement during chat times.
