Faculty of Letters

The Faculty of Letters seeks to understand cultures, societies, and the nature of humankind, producing innumberable successful and talented graduates throughout its 125-year history and continues to foster an integrated way of thinking by offering education that spans a wide range of academic disciplines.

The Faculty of Letters consists of seventeen majors and two divisions, specializing in such subjects as philosophy, history, literature, library and information science, and human relations, taught by around 140 full-time faculty members.

Faculty of Economics

The formal study of economics in Japan began with the 1890 establishment of the Faculty of Economics within Keio University. For well over a century now, graduates of Keio's economics program have served as economic leaders in Japan. The aim of the Faculty of Economics is to tackle global socioeconomic issues from a broad perspective, and encourage students to apply the problem-solving skills they acquire at Keio in their future positions as economic leaders.

Faculty of Law

The departments of Law and Political Science investigate complex social phenomena, and the Faculty boasts expertise in a wide range of areas, offering various specialized courses that respond to social change. We have also continued to enhance our graduate-level research and education to address the more advanced needs of society.

Faculty of Business and Commerce

The Faculty of Business and Commerce was created to study and research commerce in the spirit of Yukichi Fukuzawa's scientific philosophy of modern rationalism. The educational goal of the faculty is to nurture creative thinkers who are capable of applying viable solutions to actual problems; forward-looking organizational leaders able to stay one step ahead of the times.
Students explore the world of modern industry via four core areas of study: Management, Accounting, Commerce, and Economy and Industries.

School of Medicine

The goal of the School of Medicine is to nurture students with rich humanity, profound intelligence, and comprehensive decision making abilities. Those skills are based on a strict sense of ethics and a lifelong desire to continue learning in order to contribute to the well-being of humankind through medical science and medical care.

Faculty of Science and Technology

The Faculty of Science and Technology provides leading-edge education and research services for the future of science and technology. Under its basic philosophy of “emergence,” the faculty seeks to open doors to new and unexplored areas and develop individuals who can lead the way in the next phase of cutting-edge advancement in science and technology.

The faculty aims to develop students who will be able to adapt to and succeed in a rapidly changing society. The goal of all its eleven departments is to produce scientists and engineers with the fundamental academic skills to advance our modern way of life. 

Faculty of Policy Management

The Faculty of Policy Management strives to create a new form of jitsugaku for the 21st century by taking apart existing academic disciplines. The faculties of Policy Management and Environmental Information are multidisciplinary, integrated entities that offer new ways of learning and creation that defies boundaries and aim to nurture professionals who can identify and find solutions to contemporary social problems.

The Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care aims to train health, welfare, and medical care specialists who can provide integrated care. By offering a broad spectrum of learning opportunities, the faculty has continued to create new possibilities in nursing care throughout its long history.

Faculty of Pharmacy

The Faculty of Pharmacy trains pharmacists who can contribute to the improvement of medicine and health for all humanity. It offers a new form of pharmaceutical education leveraging its many years of experience and expertise. By collaborating with other faculties, the faculty is expanding boundaries and creating new knowledge in the field of pharmacy.

Correspondence Courses

Over 9,000 Students Nationwide

Keio University correspondence courses are taken by over 9,000 students nationwide, and are taught by the same faculty that teach our on-campus degrees.
Correspondence course students who complete their studies will acquire an undergraduate degree and become full-fledged Keio University graduates.

Japanese Language Program

Japanese Language and Culture for International Students

The Japanese Language Program is designed for international students who are learning Japanese as a second language and offers instruction on Japanese language and culture. From an early stage, the language classes focus on enabling students to attain the level of proficiency required to conduct research in specialist disciplines. The program also allows students to put together their own course of study to suit individual academic needs and interests.
