The Fall 2025 Entrance Ceremony for new students at both Keio University's undergraduate faculties and graduate schools was held at the West School Building Hall on Mita Campus from 10:00 on Monday, September 22. This fall, a total of 352 new undergraduate students were admitted: 137 at the Faculty of Economics; 7 at the Faculty of Law; 56 at the Faculty of Policy Management; 42 at the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies; and 110 in the Japanese Language Program. Of the 320 students admitted to the graduate schools, 222 will enter master's programs, 75 will join doctoral programs, and 23 will enroll in a professional degree program.
Vice-President Yoshimitsu Matsuura began the ceremony by delivering the incoming class report, followed by President Itoh delivering his welcome address in English. In his speech, President Itoh discussed the mission of Keio University and touched on what its founder, Yukichi Fukuzawa, achieved in his youth. He went on to explain that, even with today's advanced technologies and accumulated knowledge, true learning still takes time, meaning that students should invest their years at university and graduate school to study deeply, focus on research, build relationships with their peers, and grow into individuals who can spread their wings and thrive on the global stage.
After this, Professor Toru Namerikawa from the Graduate School of Science and Technology gave a congratulatory address on behalf of faculty members while Megumi Miyazaki spoke on behalf of the incoming class. The ceremony concluded with the Gakuyukai mixed choral group singing the Juku-ka, Keio's anthem, together with everyone in attendance.
New students were seen chatting with family and friends, taking photos in front of ceremony banners and other spots around campus, full of anticipation for their life at university to begin.
