On November 12, 2025, seven researchers from Keio University were selected for the annual Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers (HCR) list.

Selected Researchers

• Professor Takanori Kanai (Department of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology)
• Professor Kenya Honda (Department of Microbiology and Immunology)
• Professor Toshiro Sato (Department of Biochemistry)
• Professor Emeritus Akihiko Yoshimura (affiliated with the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the time of research; currently a professor at the Tokyo University of Science)
• Visiting Professor Koji Atarashi (affiliated with the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the time of research; currently a professor at Kyushu University)

The HCR list recognizes outstanding researchers who have published multiple papers landing in the top 1% of citations for research in their respective disciplines. The list encompasses 21 Essential Science Indicators (ESI) fields and the cross-field category, for a total of 22 categories. In the 2025 edition, 6,868 researchers were selected from 60 countries or regions worldwide, 88 of whom were from Japan.

The award categories for each researcher are as follows:
