On November 6, 2024, a symposium hosted by the Keio CEMS MIM (Master's in International Management) Programme, titled "New Leadership in the Age of Internationalization," was held at the East Research Building G-Lab.
The symposium began with opening remarks by Vice-President Yukihiro Ikeda, followed by the first session, "Fostering the Next Generation of Leaders in the CEMS MIM Programme," where Professor Teruo Nakatsuma presented an overview of the programme. After that, Professor Emeritus Heizo Takenaka delivered his keynote speech based on the theme, "New Developments in the Japanese Economy and Human Resources."
The panel discussion that followed was moderated by CEMS Academic Director, Professor Chie Iguchi from the Faculty of Business and Commerce. The panel, comprising Vice-President Akiyo Okuda, PricewaterhouseCoopers Sustainability LLC Special Advisor Koichiro Senju, and Professor Masahiko Inakage, dean of the Graduate School of Media Design (KMD), had a lively discussion on the theme, "What Kind of Leaders are Required to Lead the Next Generation? Perspectives from Industry and Universities."
CEMS is a global alliance of the world's top universities and business schools, as well as corporate institutions, and NGOs, of which Keio University is the only member institution from Japan. The CEMS MIM (Master's in International Management) is a double degree program that allows students to earn a master's degree from both CEMS and its member institutions. Since Keio University became an official member of CEMS in 2010, Keio CEMS students have numbered more than 50 in total and the university receives international students from CEMS member schools every semester.
