Keio University held an event promoting admission to Keio, "Open Campus 2023," on Mita Campus from Friday, August 4, to Saturday, August 5. Over the two-day period, approximately 12,000 people visited Mita Campus. This was the first Keio admission event of its kind to be held in four years.
Introductory sessions aimed at high school and prospective students were held for Keio's undergraduate faculties. Everyone listened in rapt attention as faculty members from across the ten undergraduate faculties presented on a variety of topics.
On the 4th, the president of Keio University, Kohei Itoh, gave a speech to prospective students and their guardians. During his presentation, President Itoh discussed Keio's history and mission, the Student Conference (a program in which students step up to propose and promote projects related to the SDGs), and other recent initiatives. He then expressed that he hopes everyone will have the ultimate university experience at Keio.
In addition to these presentations, Keio also hosted student panels, special seminars for guardians, and individual consultations for prospective students. The student panels were especially popular as current students discussed what it is like at Keio, their thoughts and memories of the admission process, and other stories that highlighted the unique perspectives that only students can provide. Many visitors also spent time at the Fukuzawa Yukichi Memorial Keio History Museum, the Keio University Art Center (KUAC), and the Keio Museum Commons (KeMCo), throughout the Open Campus.
Keio was bustling with attendees despite the scorching summer heat, especially during the 5th when the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care also held an open campus event which welcomed over 600 additional visitors.
