The "Architecture Walk: Special Architecture Open Day" hosted by the Keio University Art Center (KUAC) was held at Mita Campus over three days from Monday, November 28 to Wednesday, November 30.
Mita Campus is home to historic structures that have been designated as important cultural properties such as the Old University Library and the Public Speaking Hall. Despite this recognition, there are many buildings on campus that the public isn't normally allowed to enter, and, conversely, buildings that people often visit but don't appreciate its true value. The Architecture Walk, held every fall, is an event aimed at showcasing such buildings and works of artwork around campus to audiences regardless of affiliation to Keio. This year, the Ex Noguchi Room, the Public Speaking Hall, and other buildings usually closed to the public were opened, and many visitors enjoyed perusing the campus with a map in hand.
This year's event also saw the return of face-to-face tours offered by KUAC curators after a three year-hiatus. Participants listened intently to the curators' explanations of the architectural features, history, and what can be learned from the individual designs.
The KUAC plans to hold this event again next year, so if you missed this opportunity, please look forward to the next one.
