On Sunday, October 18, a facilities tour of the Hiyoshi Commemorative Hall was held for the 1970 Mita-kai (alumni association).
Keio alumni (graduates) belonging to the 1970 Mita-kai had been invited as guests of honor to the university entrance ceremony that was to be held in April 2020, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of their graduation; however, the ceremony was cancelled due to the COVID-19 situation, and a facilities tour of the Commemorative Hall took place instead.
Around 500 people attended on the day of the event with various measures in place to prevent infections, including seating arrangements to facilitate social distancing, and temperature checks and hand disinfection on admission to the building. Following addresses by President Akira Haseyama and Vice-President Keigo Komamura of Keio University, and Masato Tsuru, representative of the 1970 Mita-kai, various screenings were held including a video of the September entrance ceremony, which had to be conducted online, and a video record of the construction work on the Commemorative Hall. Afterward, the Party of Rooters performed the school songs before proceedings were brought to a close with a message from Yoko Wake, the vice chairperson of the commemorative project committee for the 50th graduation anniversary.
The event was blessed with fine weather on a day which saw old friends enjoy being reunited, and many of the participants could be seen taking photo keepsakes in front of the newly-completed Commemorative Hall.
