The reconstruction work on the New Hiyoshi Commemorative Hall, which had been taking place for the last two and a half years, was completed on Tuesday, March 10.
The New Commemorative Hall has been transformed into a building with four floors above ground and two below, and stands at a height of 25.8 meters. The total floor area has been expanded from roughly 6,000 square meters to around 12,500 square meters, and the total capacity has increased from about 6,500 people to approximately 10,000 people. In addition to the scale of the new building, viewing spaces for wheelchair users have been created and consideration has also been given toward the comfort of the users, such as the installation of air conditioning for the arena. It is planned for the new facility to be used for university events and ceremonies, physical education classes, and other extracurricular activities from here on out.
The white theme of the exterior which will accentuate the changing seasons on campus was designed to harmonize with Buildings One and Two located on either side of the Commemorative Hall.
In place of a ceremony to celebrate the completion of the construction work, a ceremony to present letters of appreciation was held on Friday, March 13 at which President Haseyama formally presented letters from the university to representatives from companies including Kajima Corporation that oversaw the design and construction work.
