The Keio Short-Term Japanese Studies Program (KJSP) 2020 wrapped up on February 18 with the participants from Keio and other universities around the world giving their final presentations, receiving their certificates of participation, and enjoying a farewell reception with the lecturers who taught them in the program over the last 2 weeks.
The final presentations were made by groups of international and Keio students, which had been decided on the first day. Over the course of the 2 weeks, each group zeroed in on an aspect of Japan that interested them, informed by the various lectures and field trips they attended on the program, and they prepared video presentations on their topics. The presentations were humorous and provided deep insights into Japanese society and culture, eliciting various questions and discussions. Each group also reflected on the challenges they faced working on their presentations. Prizes were then awarded for the best presentations, and all the participants received their certificates of participation.
A farewell reception followed with a buffet dinner, speeches by students and professors from the program, and a game of bingo. There was lots of laughter and some tears as the 16 international students from 5 universities and 15 Keio students took pictures and shared contact details over the meal before heading off to their respective parts of the world.
