On Wednesday, October 9, Keio President Akira Haseyama, Vice-President Shinnosuke Obi, and Professor Emeritus Ken Sekine, Senior Advisor to President for Chinese Collaborations, led a Keio delegation on a visit to Nanjing Normal University, China.
During the visit, President Haseyama and other members of his party paid a courtesy call to Nanjing Normal University President CHEN Guoxiang. Discussions were held on the status of education and research at both universities, and a Memorandum of Understanding was signed.
Subsequently, a lecture titled "Keio University and China" was given by President Haseyama. At the capacity-filled lecture venue, a message from Ambassador Akio Isomata, the Consul General of Japan in Shanghai was presented, with around 200, predominantly graduate-level students gathering to listen intently to the lecture. Questions were fielded from the engaged students following the conclusion of the lecture, which President Haseyama answered in a thoroughgoing manner.
It is anticipated that the visit of President Haseyama will help to encourage ongoing exchanges with Nanjing Normal University.
