The Yokohama Keio Challenger International Tennis Tournament 2019 was held at the Mamushidani Tennis Courts on Hiyoshi Campus from Monday, February 25 through Sunday, March 10.
The men’s tournament is an official Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Challenger Tour and is the sole ATP Challenger Tour hosted by a university and run by students. This year marked the 10th edition of the Keio Challenger, with many of the players who have participated to date having gone on to appear in the four Grand Slam tournaments and the Olympics. In addition, the women’s tournament, which was held in parallel, is an official component of the International Tennis Federation ladies circuit. Professional players from every region of the globe took part in both tournaments.
Students from the Keio University Athletic Association’s Tennis Club served as the secretariat running the tournament. During the tournament, the venue was enlivened by many visitors, and other events, such as a junior tennis school and wheelchair tennis session, were also held.
