On November 13, a delegation from KU Leuven (Belgium) including Rector Luc Sels visited Keio’s Mita Campus to meet with Provost Tojiro Aoyama, Prof. Shinnosuke Obi, Vice-President for International Collaboration, and Prof. Yukihiro Ikeda, Dean of the Faculty and Graduate School of Economics.
KU Leuven, known as one of the oldest and the most innovative universities in Europe, is planning to hold an exhibition in 2020 in collaboration with UC Louvain on the historically important donation of 14,000 books that was made to the university by Japan in 1920. Prof. Dimitri Vanoverbek and Associate Prof. Jan Schmidt, specialists in the broad field of Japanese Studies at KU Leuven who were both part of the delegation, will lead the project.
KU Leuven and Keio University have also agreed to upgrade the current student exchange program in the field of economics to an institutional level of collaboration to facilitate a wider range of educational and research activities not only in business and economics, but perhaps also in the fields of history, arts, digital sciences, and more.
