On Friday, October 12, Keio University President Akira Haseyama visited Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), signing a Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement with BFSU President Peng Long. A university-wide student exchange agreement between the two institutions, as well as agreements between Keio’s Faculty of Policy Management and Faculty of Environment and Information Studies and BFSU’s Department of Japanese are currently in place. This new agreement aims to strengthen ties between the two universities by building a more comprehensive partnership.
After signing the new agreement, introductory lectures on Keio and some of the research being done by Keio researchers were held before BFSU students who are takings courses related to Japan and the Japanese language. Professor Hisayo Ogushi of the Faculty of Letters, Professor Tetsuya Komagata of the Faculty of Economics, and Professor Tomoki Kamo of the Faculty of Policy Management each gave lectures on their specialist fields, while President Haseyama participated in a subsequent panel discussion alongside two faculty members of BFSU. The lectures were eagerly received by the 100 or more undergraduate and graduate students of BFSU who filled the venue.
