Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Business and Commerce Host Symposium with Francois Villeroy de Galhau, Governor of the Bank of France
November 27, 2018
A symposium entitled "Multilateralism in question: Our common challenges seen from a European perspective" was co-hosted by the Keio Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Business and Commerce, Bank of France, and Embassy of France in Tokyo, at the North Hall, Mita Campus on Monday, November 19.
At the symposium, Francois Villeroy de Galhau, Governor of the Bank of France, gave a lecture on prevailing economic circumstances. He specifically addressed the fact that while global economic conditions are generally favorable as a result of stable GDP growth and lower unemployment and inflation rates, international tensions are rising, with challenges such as increasing debt and trade protectionism being experienced on a global-scale. To contrast with this, he singled out the existence of robust international cooperation in the field of finance.
Many questions were fielded from the floor and the event concluded with a passionately debated Q&A.
