On Tuesday, November 6, Keio University and IBM jointly held the symposium "Innovation and Technology: A Look at the Future" at the South School Building Hall on Mita Campus. During Session 1, Ginni Rometty, Chairman, President and CEO of IBM, and President Akira Haseyama had a "Fireside Chat" to "Consider innovation and technology," during which they discussed issues such as the impact on society of AI and fostering the personnel capable of effectively deploying AI. At the conclusion of the Fireside Chat, Ms. Rometty addressed students with advice based on her own experiences. At Session 2, which was titled "Impact of Technologies on Society," a panel discussion featuring Kohei Ito, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Masahiko Inakage, Dean of the Graduate School of Media Design, and Dr. Dario Gil, Chief Operating Officer of IBM Research, and Vice President, AI & Quantum Computing, was held. Subsequently at Session 3, which was titled "Technology and the Global Economy," another panel discussion was held featuring specially-invited alumni active at various corporations. Finally, Kohei Ito, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, drew the proceedings to their conclusion with his closing address.
Additionally, Dr. Dario Gil gave a lecture on the challenges and future prospects in the deployment of AI to coincide with the event, with many students taking part, during the morning of the same day at the Sosokan building on Yagami Campus.
