On April 19, US-based Clarivate Analytics announced the 2018 Japanese research institution rankings for the number of high impact papers. Keio University had 174 highly cited papers, accounting for 0.9% of the total number of papers it published and placing the university 15th (1st among private Japanese universities) in the General category. By research area, the university was placed 9th in Biology & Biochemistry, 5th in Immunology, and 8th in the Molecular Biology & Genetics.
This analysis identifies research institutions within Japan with a particularly strong presence in research areas the country is highly influential in around the world based on the number of papers published that have greatly impacted later research (highly cited papers).
