The Keio University Baseball Club has triumphed in the 2018 Spring Tokyo Big6 Baseball League for the 36th time. This victory is their second in a row having previously topped the Fall 2017 league.
After one win and one loss, the third Keio-Waseda baseball game on Monday, June 4 ended in a 1-0 victory for Waseda that was only decided in the 11th inning. However, while this consequently did not amount to the team going undefeated as was previously seen in Spring 2011, the Keio team had already secured their victory in the previous week.
Following the end of the closing ceremony, a victory parade made its way from Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery in Mejijingu Gaien to the Mita Campus, where victory celebrations were held. Around 1,000 people took part in the parade and around 1,500 Keio students and jukuin (alumni) joined the victory celebrations and shared in the jubilation of the first consecutive league triumph in 27 years.
