On Friday, January 12, gold medallist Paralympian Caz Walton OBE was back in Japan, but this time as a Project Officer of the British Paralympic Association (BPA). As part of the trip, she visited Keio University’s Hiyoshi Campus, which will host the preparation camps of the British Olympic and Paralympic teams for the Tokyo 2020 games. At the 1964 Tokyo Games, Walton won Britain’s first gold medal in Paralympic track events, as well as a gold medal for swimming.
After a tour of the facilities at Hiyoshi Campus, she turned to the Keio staff and said, “I have a surprise for you,” as she showed them her gold medals.
Keio University and BPA exchanged a Letter of Intent in December 2017 for hosting the British Paralympic Team’s preparation camp for Tokyo 2020.
