It was announced that 1,231 individuals passed the 2017 Certified Public Accountant Examination. (Last year, 1,108 individuals passed the exam.) According to the Mita-kai of Certified Public Accountants, 157 of these individuals are graduates of Keio University. In 2017, Keio had 139 successful test takers. Keio has managed to hold the number one spot among Japanese universities again this year, topping the list of successful test takers for 43 consecutive years since 1975.
In 1980, Keio University established an accounting office within the Faculty of Business and Commerce for students studying to pass the exams to become certified public accountants and licensed tax accountants. In addition to full-time faculty members, certified public accountants and faculty members from other universities are invited to lecture, and to develop basic academic skills, worksheets are distributed and corrected. This support service is also open to Keio students not affiliated with the Faculty of Business and Commerce.
