On Wednesday October 18, British Olympic Association CEO Bill Sweeney gave a lecture to Keio staff titled “Legacy and Driving the Olympic Message” at Hiyoshi Campus.
Sweeney spoke about how Team GB’s consecutive successes on the medal tables in London 2012 and Rio 2016 were actually rooted in the London 2012 legacy of increasing participation in sport among the general population and economic growth, as well as the marketing strategy that has continued to bring in a large number of fans. He also emphasized that it is a great opportunity for the people, particularly children, in Olympic host countries to gain international experience. He concluded the lecture by wishing every success in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Hiyoshi Campus will be one of the venues for Team GB’s Tokyo 2020 Preparation Camp.
