The February 2017 Keio Short-Term Japanese Studies Program (KJSP) began on Monday, February 6.
KJSP is an intensive two-week program for students who wish to study in Japan, offering a variety of courses related to Japan, including Japanese literature, education, business, arts, and traditional and modern culture.
Participants gain knowledge not only from the lectures by experienced faculty members and through a range of activities, but also through exchanges with current Japanese Keio students who also join the program.
One of the highlights on the KJSP is the Sushi Workshop where a master sushi chef comes to Keio to give a hands-on lesson in making sushi.
The workshop was held at lunchtime on Wednesday 15, starting with a quick introduction on the art of making sushi and a demonstration. The students were then given the ingredients to make their own sushi.
Afterwards the students sat down to enjoy a specially prepared sushi bento box for lunch and compared it with their own creations.
