A press conference was held from 16:30 on Thursday, April 20, at the G-Lab in the East Research Building on Mita Campus by President Atsushi Seike and Professor Akira Haseyama of the Faculty of Letters and current Vice-President, who was selected earlier that day as the next president of Keio University by the Keio University Board of Councillors.
At the press conference, President Seike introduced President-elect Haseyama, who then gave a speech, laying out his agenda as the next president. He expressed his intentions to implement reform and continue developing every possible educational, research, and medical field to allow Keio University to keep evolving.
The term of office for Keio University President is four years, and a president can serve up to a maximum of two terms (the regulation was revised in 2011 under President Seike’s administration). President Seike is stepping down, after serving two terms for a total of eight years.
There were many journalists from various media outlets present, and President-elect Haseyama engaged them in a lively question and answer session.
