On Wednesday, April 12, the HKUST President Tony Chan gave a lecture entitled "HKUST, Rising Power and Global Impact" at the Global Research Lab on the sixth floor of the East Research Building on Mita Campus.
The lecture began with Vice-President Jiro Kokuryo who chaired the session, followed by Keio University President Atsushi Seike who extended a warm welcome to President Chan and introduced his achievements.
Thereafter, President Chan gave a talk full of hope and expectation for roughly an hour to the participants at the venue, especially to the students in attendance, about the international city of Hong Kong, via the attractiveness of HKUST located in the city, as a geographical and cultural meeting point between East and West and a place where new technologies and businesses are constantly generated.
The venue was filled to capacity and the participants listened eagerly to President Chan’s vibrant talk. Among the questions asked during the Q&A session was one by an international student at Keio University on what President Chan perceives to be the ideal university ten years down the line, and the lecture concluded on a successful note.
