2015 Year-end Reception for International Faculty, Visiting Scholars, Doctoral Students, and Exchange Students

On December 3, 2015, another year was brought to a close with a Year-end Reception on Mita Campus hosted by Professor Jiro Kokuryo, Vice-President for International Affairs. Guests included Keio's many international faculty members, visiting scholars, doctoral students, exchange students, and students of the World Bank program and the Japanese Language program. Many other faculty and staff involved in international initiatives also attended.

Vice-President Kokuryo gave a short opening address, mentioning that although 2015 has been a tough year for international relations around the world, he is encouraged that so many young people from all around the world are coming to Keio and becoming global citizens. Keio President, Prof. Atsushi Seike, then gave a speech thanking the international members for their valuable contributions to the Keio community before leading the kampai (cheers).

Over the course of the evening, three international students from very different backgrounds gave speeches about their unique experiences at Keio, and shared often humorous and touching anecdotes.

The Keio promotion video "Shaping History, Shaping Tomorrow," was played on the big screen, and it was also an opportunity to take "Keio in a Word" photos for the fifth consecutive year, for which attendees are asked to write a word or short phrase that summarizes their Keio experience. The response was again fantastic and revealing. The photos are available here.
