On December 5, 2013, Professor Jiro Kokuryo, Vice-President for International Collaboration, hosted a reception at Mita Campus marking the end of another year. The reception brought together international faculty members, visiting scholars, doctoral students, exchange students, and students of the World Bank program and the Japanese Language Program, as well as faculty and staff members involved in international initiatives at Keio.
Following a brief opening address by Vice-President Kokuryo, President Seike welcomed the attending faculty members, scholars, and students and thanked them for their support of Keio University.
Later on in the evening, three representatives--Dr. Natalie Cernecka (Latvia), JSPS Invited Fellow at the Faculty of Letters, Ms. Aisulu Zhussupova (Kazakhstan), a student of the Graduate School of Medicine, and Mr. Antoine Villard (France), an exchange student from École Normale Supérieure (ENS) and student of the Japanese Language Program--gave speeches on their experiences at Keio, including both funny episodes and touching words of thanks.

While the faculty members, scholars, and students attending celebrated the end of another year, Keio Global invited attendees to share a word or short phrase that summarized their impressions or experiences of Keio. Over the last three years, “Keio in a Word” has attracted a great response from students and revealed a variety of perceptions of Keio. The photos from 2013 and previous years are available to view on the "Keio in a Word" page.
