Keio University Nursing Care Support Program (KIND)

Nursing care is said to be a challenge that everyone faces. Above all, you may be forced to deal with it suddenly one day. That is why preparation in advance is necessary. Therefore, following the "Keio University Childcare Support Program (KIDS)," which supports the balance between childcare and work, Keio University has launched the "Keio University Nursing Care Support Program (KIND)" to support the balance between nursing care and work. While systems such as nursing care leave and family care leave are already in operation, we will support the balance between nursing care and work by newly introducing a program to learn about, consult on, and receive subsidies for nursing care as further support.

Many people may have vague anxieties about future nursing care. You may not even be able to imagine whether the rewarding work and the career you have built up will be interrupted for the sake of family nursing care, or even before that, what you should do for "nursing care" and how your life will change. Therefore, let's think about those preparations together before support becomes necessary by holding nursing care seminars and other events. Once nursing care actually begins, it will be necessary to consult more specifically. We will provide support in each district and over the phone.

It will be possible to apply for subsidies for costs such as the use of nursing care services during holiday work by faculty and staff, and the employment of temporary staff to support the research and education of faculty members—things that are already being done in the KIDS program. Supporting faculty and staff who are providing nursing care, just like with childcare, not only enhances their feelings toward their respective jobs but also enables the transformation of the workplace. It will also lead to increased work efficiency and the strengthening of research capabilities.

A collaborative environment is realized when we care about each other's positions. First, let's deepen our understanding by gaining knowledge about the reality of nursing care, and then let's support each other in the spirit of Keio Gijuku Shachu cooperation by looking at those around us with a warm gaze so that the program is widely used. The Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion will continue to aim for an even more comfortable working environment, such as making the balance between childcare/nursing care and work natural, as well as the balance with medical treatment. We ask for your understanding and cooperation.

Please make use of the support systems provided by the Human Resources Division and the Keio Gijuku Health Insurance Association, as well as the various support provided by the Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, from the Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion website.

In order to strongly support the balance between work and nursing care for faculty and staff engaged in research, education, and medical care, the Keio University Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion will sequentially provide the "Keio University Nursing Care Support Program (KIND)" to complement various initiatives already provided by the Human Resources Division and to further promote nursing care support for Keio University as a whole. Through this initiative, we will broadly support the work-life balance for faculty and staff who provide nursing care.
