Keio student team Rinshan Solution won a silver medal at the 2026 International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Asia Pacific Championship, advancing to the 2026 ICPC World Finals this November in Dubai.
The team features two SFC students, Shogo Amacho and Yamato Kawaue from Prof. Kawashima’s lab, and Haruka Tonegawa from the Faculty of Science and Technology.
As the world’s oldest and largest premier programming contest for college students, the ICPC attracts over 30,000 participants annually. In teams of three representing their schools, students solve algorithmic problems that test their capacity to collaborate, innovate, and deliver results under pressure. A total of 70 selected teams competed in the Asia Pacific Championship, where Rinshan Solution won a silver medal with a 12th-place finish overall, qualifying for the final competition.
“We’re thrilled to have qualified for the world finals,” noted the team. “Early in the competition, we got off to a strong start, rising to second place at one point. But falling behind other teams midway through showed us just how much we still need to improve. We will give everything we have in the final stretch to win a medal at the championship.”
