The Camp for Designing the Future, primarily for first- and second-year high school students, was held in person this year for the first time in three years. In addition to the Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC), it was also held in Kumamoto, Kochi, and Tottori Prefectures. The event took place on Friday, August 19, at the Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) and from Friday, August 19, to Saturday, August 20, at the off-campus venues.

Held for the 12th time this year, the Camp for Designing the Future was designed as a place for participants, meeting for the first time, to pool their diverse knowledge and wisdom and experientially consider the "ability to execute" that leads to the future. Communicating with fellow campers while tackling open-ended problems sparks flexible thinking and flashes of insight.

At the SFC venue, a total of 38 people participated in two workshops, proactively working with faculty members and SFC students on discussions and creating presentation materials. The high school students, who seemed a bit awkward during the morning guidance session, warmed up and honed their skills by engaging in heated discussions that defied the intense heat, dedicating their maximum intellectual and physical efforts to their projects, and sharing their thoughts and ideas with their peers.

At the three off-campus venues, workshops utilizing the local "field" were held with the cooperation of people from each region. In Minamiaso, Kumamoto, participants discussed a future of living with nature while experiencing its life force firsthand. In Tosa, Kochi, they collected data through interviews with local people and town walks, and each group presented their findings on posters. In Daisen, Tottori, they built a new town platform using the latest XR and robotics technologies, with a specific area in Tottori Prefecture as a model case.

At all venues, it was a day for participants to meet new friends, foster exchanges, be exposed to the perspectives and ways of thinking unique to SFC, and take a step forward toward the future.
