Toyama University of International Studies High School Wins the Grand Prize

The Data Business Creation Lab at the Keio Research Institute at SFC, Keio University (located in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture; Director: Hiroya Tanaka; Lab Representative: Jun Murai), with the support of its business partner Digital Garage, Inc. (headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and Group CEO: Kaoru Hayashi; hereinafter "Digital Garage"), held the final presentation, judging session, and awards ceremony for the "7th Data Business Creation Contest: Digital Innovators Grand Prix 7 (DIG 7)" on Saturday, March 17.

1. Purpose

This Data Business Creation Contest, targeting students from high school to graduate school nationwide, was a competition for proposals on measures to create new value through Washoku culture in various fields. The theme was "Value Creation through Washoku Culture," and it involved utilizing consumer-generated review data.

The Data Business Creation Lab, together with its business partner Digital Garage, has managed the contest, including setting the theme, judging, and presenting awards. Kakaku.com, Inc., a Digital Garage Group company, provided data on the top 1,000 restaurants in the Washoku (Japanese food) category from "Tabelog," along with associated review data from the past year, which was utilized for this theme. Additionally, participating teams used "Mieruka Engine" from Plus Alpha Consulting Co., Ltd. as an analysis tool to propose new measures based on their analysis results.

This year, 51 teams applied to participate, and 31 of them entered the preliminary round. The nine teams that passed the preliminary screening gave their final presentations at the final presentation event.
