Exploring Human Intelligence, Sensibility, and Creativity — and the Language, Body, and Technology That Ground Them

IBA, Takashi Professor, Program Chairperson

Takashi IBA

As humans, thinking, feeling and creating is an innate part of our existence.

The CB Program explores that intelligence, sensibility, and creativity, as well as the language, body, and technology that grounds them. We do this scientifically and creatively, moving back and forth between theory and practice, measurement and implementation, qualitative and quantitative research.

Our program brings together researchers from across disciplines, enabling diverse interdisciplinary studies: Elucidating cognition by measuring brain function and drawing on neuroscience. Understanding skills based on sports science and motor control. Examining mental processes from the perspectives of psychology and psychiatry. Analyzing sense-making through the lenses of linguistics, literature, and sociology. Articulating the essence of creativity and practice through language and narrative. Designing relationships between humans and technology based on research on the interfaces that connect them  and in artificial intelligence.

Together, we confront profound questions about what makes us “human,” and how we can live a meaningful life. By conducting research that deepens our understanding of ourselves as human beings, we can open doors that lead to better living. Be part of our program and join us on this journey.
