Camp for Designing the Future 2018 Follow-up Program Implementation Report

A follow-up program was held from September 2018 to March 2019 as part of the residential workshop "Introductory Haptics Workshop: The Future of an AI Society with Social Robots x Haptics," which was conducted at the Camp for Designing the Future 2018.

Six high school students participated in two research groups (seminars) of the "Introductory Haptics Workshop" at the residential Camp for Designing the Future.

Each student set their own research topic with the goal of producing results within one semester, and they participated in the research groups about once a week, also using remote tools like Skype. They conducted research for just over half a year on themes based on their respective interests, such as the interaction between robots and humans, a tool to change a robot's personality using exterior parts, and the phenomenology of when people let go of objects. In March 2019, they gave a joint presentation at a research group training camp.

After the program concluded, the students were awarded certificates of completion based on their research results and experiences, with the hope that they will continue to deepen their learning and research.
