    Faculty of Pharmacy

During my practicum at the University of Florida, I had the opportunity to learn about pharmacists in the United States in a practical way by visiting various medical facilities and participating in classes at the Faculty of Pharmacy.

What I found most meaningful throughout the practicum was the opportunity to exchange opinions with local experts about the differences in medical care and the role of pharmacists between Japan and the United States. By discussing these topics after observing actual medical settings, I was able to understand the cultural and geographical factors behind the differences.

Furthermore, by experiencing both educational and medical settings, I realized that the practical, teamwork-oriented educational style in the United States has a positive impact on the subsequent professional functions and work styles of pharmacists. I also learned a great deal from the proactive learning attitude of the local students.

As this was the first dispatch from Keio University's Faculty of Pharmacy to the University of Florida, there was little prior information, and I was anxious about life there before my departure. However, in my daily life, the professors and students were always looking out for me, and I was able to live without any inconvenience. By being included in student circles for meals and walks downtown, I was able to enjoy and experience American university life.

At the end of the practicum, I was also given the opportunity to give a presentation at the university as a culmination of my work, which allowed me to conclude the experience with a sense of fulfillment. I felt that to make the practicum fruitful within the short period of one month, it was important to act with initiative.

I also feel that one of the wonderful aspects of the Overseas Advanced Practicum is the ability to build lasting relationships with students and professors from other countries who specialize in the same field of pharmacy.

I believe this is a program that is highly meaningful to participate in after completing practical training and research activities. For anyone who is even slightly interested, I encourage you to take on the challenge without hesitation.
