Environmental Declaration

As an institution dedicated to nurturing students who aspire to become pharmacists working in healthcare and researchers in drug discovery, the Keio University Faculty of Pharmacy recognizes the great importance of global environmental issues and hereby declares its commitment to actively contribute to the preservation of the global environment. Additionally, we declare that every faculty member and student of the Faculty of Pharmacy, with awareness of the responsibility of being “global citizens,” will pursue the following goals through all activities on campus, including education and research activities, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of daily life and realize a recycling-oriented society for various resources.

  1. Strive to conserve resources and energy.

  2. Strive to reduce waste and promote recycling.

  3. Engage in education, research and awareness-raising activities concerning global environmental issues.

Environmental Goals

Strive to Conserve Resources and Energy.

Promote green (recycled resource) procurement.

  1. Promote recycled paper use.

  2. Switch to green procurement for office supplies, business cards, envelopes, paper bags and other items as much as possible.

Promote energy saving.

  1. Aim to reduce electricity and gas usage.

  2. Review cooling and heating temperature settings.

Strive to Reduce Waste and Promote Recycling.

Promote waste separation and reduction.

  1. Thoroughly implement separation of combustible waste, non-combustible waste and other categories along with recovery of recyclable waste.

  2. Reduce volume of general waste (garbage).

Promote resource conservation.

  1. Reduce paper waste: promote double-sided copying and double-sided printing.

  2. Promote reuse of waste paper and other resources.

  3. Reduce water consumption.

Engage in Education, Research and Awareness-raising Activities concerning Global Environmental Issues.

Promote environmental education and research.

  1. Hold public seminars and symposiums.

  2. Visit environmental facilities such as waste treatment plants.

  3. Ensure thorough dissemination of information during orientation sessions, etc.

  4. Ensure strict adherence to separation and disposal procedures for medical and experimental waste.

Collaborate with local communities in environmental area.

  1. Engage in information exchange with Minato-ku, research organizations and others.

  2. Actively participate in local government environmental programs.

Actively share environment-related information.

  • Actively provide environment-related information, including the Environmental Declaration.

  • Set up bulletin boards for environmental information.
