Keio University has held the "Shinzo Koizumi Prize National High School Essay Contest" since 1976, the 10th anniversary of the death of Dr. Shinzo Koizumi. The contest was established to pass on the character and achievements of Dr. Koizumi—a former President of Keio University and a renowned economist and writer—to future generations, and to help improve the writing and expression skills of young people.
