October 17, 2023
The Keio University Center for Preventive Medicine will move from its current location in Shinanomachi in late October to Azabudai Hills, a redevelopment project located in the Toranomon-Azabudai district. The center will begin medical examinations from Monday, November 6. Prior to the move, an opening ceremony was held on Wednesday, October 4, attended by officials from Keio University, Keio University Hospital, and Mori Building Company.
Since the time of Shibasaburo Kitasato, the first dean of the School of Medicine and the first director general of the Keio University Hospital, preventive medicine has been the starting point of the hospital. President Kohei Itoh, referring to this tradition in his opening address, said that Keio University will continue to do its utmost to tackle challenges in order to establish the ideals of preventive medicine while inheriting the hopes and expectations of predecessors who have worked so hard on this relocation project. Vice-President Yuko Kitagawa also spoke of Keio's mission to boldly take on challenges in each era and field of study. He then expressed his gratitude to Mori Building Company and Keio University Hospital staff for supporting the Center for Preventive Medicine in taking on this great challenge and decision to move out of the hospital into downtown in pursuit of futuristic preventive medicine.
Following that, Director General Morio Matsumoto thanked everyone involved in the project and expressed his determination to make the relocation project a success by leveraging the hospital's strengths. Finally, Mori Building Co. President and CEO Shingo Tsuji delivered a congratulatory address. In his address, President Tsuji expressed his gratitude to Keio University Hospital for participating in the Azabudai Hills development project, a town with a lofty goal of contributing to society under the motto "Green & Wellness", a unique and unprecedented concept to create a community where people can live in good physical and mental health. He also expressed his vision that the future potential born from the earnest collaboration between the university and the town will go beyond the framework of Keio University and Mori Building Co., leading to a brighter future for mankind.
After the opening ceremony, Center for Preventive Medicine Center Director Hiromasa Takaishi and his staff took the officials on a preview tour of the facility where they shared their joy at the completion of the center and renewed their commitment and resolve to begin medical examinations in November.
