Keio University Places in the THE University Impact Rankings 2021
April 27, 2021
Times Higher Education (THE) announced the THE University Impact Rankings 2021 (hereinafter "Impact Rankings") on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
The Impact Rankings aim to measure the social contributions of universities, using as their index the respective objectives of the 17 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) that the United Nations aims to achieve by 2030. The Impact Rankings comprise an "overall ranking," to competitively assign placings using the total tally from four goals—a combination of Goal 17 (Partnership to achieve the Goal) with the three goals for which an institution receives their highest scores—and "individual rankings" for each of the 17 goals.
Keio University was ranked joint 51st in the world for Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure). The university has been ranked in the top 100 globally for Goal 9 for three consecutive years since 2019. In the overall ranking, Keio was placed 201–300 in the world and 8th among 73 Japanese institutions.
