While sport is far from the top priority at this time, with the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Keio University would like to express its support to all the athletes hoping to compete who have experienced this heartbreaking setback. We hope you and your families are safe, and we can all celebrate overcoming these obstacles at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics when they are finally held.
Keio University was due to partly host the Team GB and ParalympicsGB pre-Games training camps at our Hiyoshi Campus. We remain committed to the various initiatives in place or in the pipeline surrounding the Tokyo Games, which in addition to the improvement of the university’s facilities includes promoting various educational initiatives relating to the Olympics, encouraging research in various fields such as medicine, and assisting Team GB and ParalympicsGB.
As part of GO GB Friends of Great Britain, which is made up of Keio, Yokohama City, and Kawasaki City (the co-hosts of the pre-Games training camps), Keio would like to assure the UK athletes, staff, and supporters that we remain committed to the partnership, and very much hope we will all soon be witnessing the unifying power of sport in Tokyo and on our campus.
