In addition to those working as civil servants or in private corporations, many graduates go on to become researchers.
This master’s program is designed to help students achieve thorough proficiency in the German language and scholarly thinking. The program assigns students to read and discuss texts dealing with literature, culture, linguistics, philosophy and ideology, practical oral seminars for academic discussion, and training in German-language writing to produce a master’s thesis. In addition, small class groups allow for close interaction between faculty members and students.
In the doctoral program, classes are mainly for writing the doctoral dissertation, and independent research is conducted in parallel with guidance from an academic advisor. Students are expected to produce a distinctive doctoral dissertation that is grounded in original ideas and discoveries. Doctoral degrees are examined in accordance with the regulations established by the major, and students are required to request the relevant documents separately.
