Overview

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced public libraries in Japan to take various measures. As part of its FY2021 research project, the National Diet Library, in cooperation with the Japan Library Association, conducted a survey on the responses of public libraries. The goal is to contribute to the consideration of responses at each library by publishing the results, and also to leave for posterity a comprehensive record of responses that cannot be collected by other institutions or by other means.
This report, based on the survey results scheduled for release in February, will introduce key findings from the extensive survey to provide an overall picture of the response of public libraries in Japan.
