I am majoring in Commercial Science under Professor Akira Shimizu. I have been fascinated by this field through seminar activities since my undergraduate days. After working for a general company following graduation, I decided to enroll in graduate school because I wanted to explore the discipline once more and acquire specialized knowledge.
Currently, I am researching how consumers interpret and infer the behavioral motives of other consumers, and how this affects marketing outcomes. Specifically, I am conducting empirical experiments based on the hypothesis that messages in cosmetics advertisements change the usage motives assumed by consumers, which in turn increases purchase intent and word-of-mouth intent for the product.
Professor Akira Shimizu provides kind and thorough research guidance based on his extensive knowledge of consumer behavior theory and marketing research. In particular, when selecting a research theme, he placed great importance on my own awareness of the issues and provided advice to link them with the interests of society and the academic community.
The Graduate School of Business and Commerce provides an environment where you can deepen your understanding of your specialized field and develop your research through dialogue with faculty and graduate students who are well-versed in various fields. In seminar classes, active discussions take place regarding the research reports of graduate students. Through these discussions, I can sincerely re-examine my own research and gain new perspectives. I recommend the Graduate School of Business and Commerce to anyone who wishes to hone their expertise in such a stimulating environment.
