Lecturer

Yo Kashiwagi

Organizer

Keio ABR, Mita Philosophical Society

Lecturer Profile:

In 1993, she joined the theater group "NOISE" and worked alongside the late director and playwright Koharu Kisaragi. In 2003, she founded the NPO Engeki Hyakkaten (Theater Department Store) and assumed the role of representative director. She creates unique theatrical spaces with children in theaters, children's centers, museums, and schools across Japan. Her recent major works include creating an outdoor traveling play with junior and senior high school students at the Hyogo Prefectural Children's Museum; the "Workshop for Teachers: Tips for Teaching" at the Setagaya Public Theatre; and creating plays with children with disabilities at Shibuya Rinsen Elementary School, among many others.

Lecture Outline:

For many years, Ms. Kashiwagi has conducted community-based theater workshops, not limiting herself to conventional stage productions. This event will be an experimental attempt to re-examine how, using the arguably non-physical tool of an online platform, participants can engage in theatrical practice "physically" and by "touching" the bodies of others.
