Graduate School of Science and Technology
Starting in 2026, the Graduate School of Science and Technology will be restructured into four new schools, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Chemistry, Life Science, and Informatics, Engineering and Design, and Informatics, Management, and Human Sciences. Each school has two or three curriculums.

Curriculum (From April 2026)
The curriculum of the Master's Program is divided into four categories: Graduate Research 1/2, Specialized Courses, General Courses, and Related Courses. Students are required to earn a minimum of 30 credits to complete the program, including 12 credits of Graduate Research 1 and 2. The remaining credits must be earned in accordance with the requirements established by each Curriculum. Most lecture courses carry 2 credits, although the number of credits varies depending on the course.
Most courses are offered on a semester system consisting of the Spring Semester (April–July) and Fall Semester (September–January). Some courses are offered on in a quarter-based (twice a week) or short-term intensive format.
Selection of Advisor
To apply for the International Graduate Program, finding an academic advisor is vital as our graduate program is a research-oriented program. You can use "Staff Profile" tool to find more information on our faculty members including contact information.
Before submitting your application, choose your prospective research advisor among our faculty members who are qualified as thesis advisors.
Please contact your prospective research advisor to discuss your research plan thoroughly. Applicants who have failed to do this prior to submitting their applications have a much smaller chance of acceptance.
Requirements for Completion (From April 2026)
The requirements for completing the Master's Program are as follows. Students must be enrolled in the program for at least two academic years, earn a minimum of 30 credits, including 6 credits for Graduate Research 1 and 6 credits for Graduate Research 2, and receive approval of their Master's thesis.
