Takahashi Laboratory - Designing Systems to Benefit People and Society with Model-Based Control

The Takahashi Laboratory at the Department of System Design Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University, conducts research aimed at developing products and systems beneficial to society using an approach called model-based control.

Model-based control is a method where a system to be controlled, such as a spacecraft, automobile, or robot, is mathematically modeled, and control technologies are then developed for that model. While this method has the advantage of allowing control technologies to be refined through simulation, if the model's accuracy is poor or the operating environment differs from the actual one, the system may not perform as simulated. Therefore, it is crucial to have accurate modeling that anticipates the operating environment and a highly robust design that can adapt to changes in the environment.
