Master’s Student Ayana Shinomiya from the Masahiro Sugimoto Lab has earned the Special Presentation Award at the 1st Colloquium of the Student Network for Immunology. She was honored as the award’s youngest recipient for the exceptional quality of her research presentation, titled: “Elucidating the Metabolic Reprogramming Mechanisms in B-cell Differentiation into Antibody-Producing Cells” (translated from Japanese).

The colloquium was a three-day residential retreat where early-career researchers and graduate and undergraduate students in the field of immunology gathered to live, dine, and engage in meaningful discussions under the same roof. The event was held with the aim of promoting connections among participants through research presentations, group work, and keynote lectures by leading researchers.

“It’s a great honor to receive the Special Presentation Award,” noted Shinomiya. “This research was conducted at Keio University’s Institute for Advanced Biosciences and the RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences. I am grateful to my supervisors and everyone involved for their invaluable support. Through active discussions with the colloquium participants from diverse backgrounds, I gained fresh perspectives. Drawing on this experience, I will strive to further advance my research and contribute to the field of immunology."
