The Mitou Target Project (Software Development Field Utilizing Quantum Computing Technology) is a project by the Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA), an incorporated administrative agency under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. It provides support to IT talent working on basic technologies and cross-domain technological innovations in advanced fields that can fundamentally change the world using innovative next-generation IT.

In this project, Hikaru Yokomori (Graduate School of Media and Governance, 1st-year Master's) and Marie Koyama (Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, 4th-year) from Professor Rodney Van Meter's laboratory in the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies have been selected for the FY2025 project.

The project aims to enable "Mitou-style" IT talent—who work on basic technologies and cross-domain technological innovations in advanced fields capable of fundamentally changing the world through innovative next-generation IT—to make the most of their ideas and technical skills to contribute to future economic development.

To achieve this goal, themes are recruited from "young, exceptional individuals (under 25 years old as of April 1, 2025) who are attempting to realize themes that are original and innovative, with the potential to create social impact and innovation in the future."
